(ASC Inter-America – Honduras) – Under the theme “Called to be salt and light for the young”, nearly 400 members of the Salesian Family met virtually, with the aim of shedding light on the situations experienced in connection with formation in the local centers of the region. Francisco Burciaga, World Councilor for the Inter-American Region, clarified that “the Regional Formation Congress is part of a series of meetings that offer the opportunity to grow personally and as a community to provide better service to recipients.”
Antonio Boccia, world coordinator, within the framework of the 145 years of the foundation of the Association of Salesian Cooperators and of the path of associative life, invited us to be a “NEW SPRING as protagonists, sowing hope” among young people.
Raúl Fernández, responsible for formation at world level, describing the pillars of formation (knowledge, know-how, know-how and know-how to live in community) and by combining them with the human, Christian and Salesian dimensions, mentioned the importance of “promoting a coherent and responsible life, by proposing credible models whose referents are Jesus and Don Bosco and by accompanying the Salesian Cooperators in the maturation of their affective and emotional life” without falling into the culture of “kleenex”, cultivating from of the social dimension, “to be a witness and evangelizer of the reality that surrounds us”, and he also underlined that it is vital “to respect the rhythm of personal growth and to leave no one behind”.
In the presence of Sr. Aracely Mayorga, Regional Delegate of the FMA for the SSCC, it was mentioned that “we are called to have an evangelical vision of the future, to cultivate a spiritual life that allows us to discover the light in the darkness, to have confidence that God is always present even the problems and uncertainties of our time and to allow ourselves to be challenged by him “, emphasizing that reality and formation are an inseparable pair”, because we are called to announce and evangelize reality , with its opportunities and difficulties, with its issues and challenges. At the same time, we must share spaces of formation with other groups of the Salesian Family in order to broaden the perspectives. She specified, in the same breath, the importance of qualifying for positions of responsibility, and ensuring the maintenance of fomation spaces in local centers by offering continuity and quality to initiatives, by applying methodologies and methods. technologies for these new times. Because “the process of formation is not only a moment or a parenthesis in associative life; it must unable us grow in our daily life, to give more conscious and meaningful responses in apostolic life and in addition to valuing and caring for the vocation to which we have been called in the Salesian Family ”.
Karla Ramos, provincial coordinator of the CAM North Province, hostess of the congress, and Martín Calderón, regional councilor for formation, reiterated the commitment to be “salt and light for the young” with the contribution of the world council.
